The Creative Writing category allows participants to demonstrate their literary talents and creativity through engaging written works. Open exclusively to individual participants, this category highlights the art of exploring themes, narratives, and emotions across various forms of writing, such as short stories, poetry, essays, or dramatic scripts.

Participants are encouraged to produce original and insightful pieces that showcase their command of language, imagination, and storytelling while addressing meaningful topics or reflecting on universal human experiences.

Application Rules

Eligibility
  • Submissions are open to individual participants only.
  • All submissions must be original work. Plagiarism will result in disqualification.
Written Work 
  • Submit a prose maximum 3,000 words or up to 60 lines for poetry.
  • Format: Calibri or Arial font, size 11 or 12, with 1-inch (2.5 cm) margins.
  • Must be written in English and saved as a PDF file (maximum size: 5 MB).
  • File name: English characters only, less than 25 characters.
Video Presentation
  • A 2 to 5-minute video presentation discussing the inspiration, themes, and creative process behind the submission.
  • Presented in English with clear audio and visuals.
  • Submit in a standard format (e.g., MP4) via the submission portal.
Visual Representation
  • Optional but recommended: An artwork or a visual element (e.g., story map, diagram, infographic) that visually represents key elements of your piece.
  • Submit as a PDF file (maximum size: 5 MB).

Structure and Narrative Flow (15%)
  • Narrative Clarity: Is the storyline or progression of ideas easy to follow?
  • Structure: Does the piece have a well-organised structure (e.g., clear beginning, middle, and end)?
  • Pacing: Are the ideas or events effectively paced to sustain the reader’s interest?
Presentation and Impact (10%)
  • Video Presentation: Does the video effectively explain the inspiration, themes, and creative process?
  • Overall Impact: Is the submission polished, cohesive, and impactful as a whole?
Adherence to the Theme (10%)
  • Theme Alignment: How well does the submission address and explore the selected theme?
  • Consistency: Is the connection to the theme sustained throughout the work?
